I have been contemplating whether or not I should start a blog for some time now. Finally after a few months, I have sat down with the laptop and created an account. The inspiration behind me wanting to do this is my daughter Gabriella (a.k.a munchkin, pumpkin pie, foofa, Gabster and a million other nicknames I give her). Hence the blog name "For the Love of G.E.M., " which are her initials.
For starters, let me introduce myself. My name is Clarissa, I'm 27 and I live in NYC with my husband Anthony and daughter Gabriella. Motherhood has changed me in ways I did not think was possible. I never even wanted kids before and when I met my now husband, I specifically told him " I do not want any children." I was perfectly content with being an aunt to my 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Fast forward almost 6 years later and we are married with a daughter. Gabriella Elyse Marin was born on March 31, 2010, and my life was forever changed.
Not to be all mushy, but seriously, how can this little person bring out so much joy, happiness and love out of someone? I did not think a love like this was even possible, but everyday I am proven wrong. I am now a stay at home mom and I have my husband to thank for that. Four months ago I was given an opportunity to work for a great company and I took it. To be honest I knew in my gut I was making the wrong decision, but I decided to go ahead anyway. That lasted about 4 months, it was killing me to be away from her. I wanted to be there for everything and anything! I did not want to miss a thing. I finally summoned up the courage and gave in my resignation. It's been a week since I have been home and I couldn't be happier. Everyone is saying I am crazy, especially in today's economy. However, I knew in my heart I would regret not being with her.........and I get to see this face all day!

I don't know where I am going with this blog stuff, but you can join me on this bumpy ride called life and motherhood that I am starting out on. I do want to say thank you to everyone who has helped my family this past year. Gabriella may not know how many people love her, but she will! Words can never express thgratitude we feel for you guys!!!!!
Since I can't go back and write everything that has happened in 8 months, I'll just share these pictures.
